McFar Private Investigations is subject to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, S.C. (PIPEDA) which came into force on January 1, 2004. Disclosure of personal information about an identifiable individual without the knowledge or consent of said individual is prohibited except as permitted and defined by the Act and related Regulations. McFar qualifies as an 'Investigative Body' as defined by Section 1 of the Regulations made under that Act. McFar, as required by the Act, subscribes to a Privacy Code that is compliant with the Canadian Standards Association Standard CAN/CSA-Q830-96 Model Code for the Protection of Personal Information. At no time will McFar investigators disclose personal information about a client to any person or agency without first obtaining the consent of the client as required by the PIPEDA or other applicable provincial privacy legislation unless ordered to do so by a court of competent jurisdiction or other legal process. McFar Private Investigations has designated its President to act as Privacy Officer.
